A fraud of several million euros in the heart of Barcelona

Investigators believe that they have created a sophisticated operation that uses the acquaintance of athletes to a trusted technically hollow project, the purpose of which would be purely speculative.
The names cited in the complaint include well -known international football personalities: Alejandro Papu Gómez, World Champion with Argentina, Javier Saviola and Ivan Rakitić, two former FC Barcelona players, as well as Lucas Ocampos, Alberto Moreno and Nimo Pareja.
If investigators do not consider them an operation, their active role is emphasized in promoting the Shimpium project. The promoters of Shimpium benefited from the cooperation of footballers led by Papu Gómez, whose friendship with David Rozencwaig, one of the founders of the company, is underlined.
Football players would borrow their image and take part in promotional videos to legitimize the platform, making investors’ confidence easier. However, the promised application has never been launched and the NFT purchased are now without specific value or usefulness.
If players argue that they had the decisions of the company in managing the company, their involvement in the area of involvement, in particular on the border between promotional cooperation and moral agreement.
The case could lead to a major legal consequences for the Shimpium leader, but causes deep questions about the use of acquaintances in the crypto of the universe. While European regulators are preparing to strengthen the rules surrounding the advertising of crypts, this case could be a jurisprudence of the duty of care of influencers, including sport, in the promotion of financial products.
